TALES OF THE NORTH began in 2025 with the chance discovery of a childhood portrait.

it became the starting point for revisiting the people, places and moments that shaped a life.

from that single image grew an idea: a collection of fragrances shaped by the people, places and moments that remain with us.

each scent begins with a memory. some are rooted in Northern Ireland, where our founder, Alastair, grew up. others draw on northern landscapes and places encountered further from home.

together, they form a scent memory map, translating intimate stories into fragrance.

our candles are hand-poured in Ireland and brought together in a considered collection of scents. keeping production, packaging and fulfilment here reflects our commitment to supporting local businesses.

"fragrance has always been a point of reference for me. a familiar scent returns me to a place, a person or a moment I thought had passed. it holds the joy, the loss and the small details we never quite forget. 

TALES OF THE NORTH grew from that connection. it is my scent memory map of home and elsewhere, of people I have loved, landscapes I have stood in and feelings I still carry. some stories are comforting. others are harder to hold. each one has left something behind.

i create from those places: childhood memories, old friendships, quiet storms and the fire I have learned to carry gently. places stay with us because of how they made us feel.

TALES OF THE NORTH is my love letter to those feelings, shared in the hope that you recognise something of your own story within mine."
